The first time I wrote a CV was back in my university days. I was a pseudo-intellectual studying English literature and philosophy. I recently found the first draft of my first CV. I drafted it over 35 years ago. After my name and contact details, it read as follows:
“I think therefore I am” – Rene Descartes
“I am that I am.” – The Good Lord
“I yamsk whatsk I yamsk.” – Popeye the Sailor Man
I circulated the draft among friends for comment. They had a good laugh, although I thought the juxtapositions in the statements summarised many facets of my personality, including the ability to speak English goodly.
I never sent this CV to potential employers lest they thought I was not taking their needs seriously. So, I was never hired.
Their loss. And mine.

It was this kind of quirkiness that I was drawn to when, in law school, you volunteered for the Red Cross PR committee that I headed. Although I never saw this resume, we hit it off right away, and remain friends, decades later. My win.
And mine!
Sing it to me, sister!
(For those who don’t know, Marlena is an incredible singer and sings with a cappella quartets!)
