Purple prose?

UKIP leader Henry Bolton is a loyal man. The only question is to who or what.

It may not be his third wife who he has left her to live with Jo Marney, a 25-year old model who is thirty years younger than him.

It may be to Ms Marney, who recently took to social media to opine that, because of her ethnic background, Royal fiancée Meghan Markle will taint the Windsor blood line. Mr Bolton has stood by Marney’s subsequent apology for any offence she may have caused even though he has ended their relationship for being inconsistent with his party leadership. Perhaps Bolton does not see this as a re-enactment of the fall from Grace where he will pay for the acts of his woman. After all, in modern society apologies mean all slips of the keyboard can be forgiven.

It may be to the UK Independence Party, whose members are calling for Bolton’s resignation as leader. Yet Henry is not hearing the voices in his party’s head. Maybe it is because he is devoted to both his party, Marney and the liberal ethics for which they stand. One can just imagine him justifying his tenacity by saying, “I mean, look at her. I’m 54 and she’s 25 and a model. And I’m hitting that.” There is probably a lot of jealous harrumphing among UKIP’s back corridors.

Tolerance has its price.
